Function of decanting centrifuges

The slurry is introduced into the revolving bowl of centrifuge through a stationary feed tube at the center of rotation. By the effect of centrifugal force heavier particles sediment on the outer bowl surface from where they are continuously conveyed by a conveyor to the bowl conical part. The thickened sediment is discharged – by conveyor – to the centrifuge discharge part from where it falls out through the outlet branch to a space under the centrifuge.

The continuously supplied suspension squeezes out the centrifuged liquid which overflows via adjustable plate dams on the face of the bowl. The liquid is accumulated in an effluent discharge from it is drained by a piping out of the centrifuge.

By a special internal arrangement of the decanting centrifuge it is possible to achieve separation of two mutually unmixable liquids (e.g. water + oil) and one solid phase (solid particles contained in these liquids).

Development and Innovations

We are focusing on the development and innovation to deliver new powerful and energy efficient centrifuges.

Currently, we are developing a new technologically advanced centrifuge DO 520 with design output 18 m3 /h. After passing the field test, the centrifuge will go to serial production. We expect to start the production in the first months of 2015.

Technical description

Centrifuge main components are two coaxial, conical-cylindrical bowls having a corresponding sense of rotation but a different speed. On the inner bowl-conveyor a double threaded screw is welded. The outer bowl is made of stainless steel.

Both bowls are supported on rolling bearings in bearing pedestals. These are located on a base frame welded of rolled profiles.

The drive of both bowls is carried out by an electric motor via a special gear-box providing a different speed of the bowls or by three-phase motors for bowl and conveyor controlled by variable speed drives. Centrifuge rotating components are protected with covers during operation. The equipment includes a switchboard where control and protection elements are located.
