Personnel Policy
The policies for personnel and management of the same influence the entire procedure of management at the company. The ultimate aim of the human resources policy in place at První brněnská strojírna Velká Bíteš, a.s. ("PBS") is for it to become a significant employer in the region.
As for our customers, there has been an increase in their requirements for the highest standards of production and promptness in delivery. In terms of employees, the company continuously educates staff through effective training schemes and supports their activities in gaining and furthering qualifications. In addition, the number of language courses arranged every year for staff corresponds to their interests and needs.
Moreover, PBS pays particular attention to issues regarding environmental policy and sustainable development. Indeed, its training activities are in part paid for by structural funds of the European Union, made possible via the European social fund and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
As a matter of interest, the company has been rewarded for its approach to the development of human resources in a competition entitled Employer of the Region, in which PBS received awards two years in a row.
Furthermore, the development, construction and technology sections cooperate with universities and research institutions. One of particular importance is its link with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Brno University of Technology. In addition, PBS enjoys great success in recruiting university graduates for particular jobs at the company and for further cooperation. Contracts are concluded with students even in the fourth year of study, and it goes without saying that they receive support carrying out their bachelor and diploma theses.
Professional growth is not the only assistance that PBS can provide to people interested in working for the company. Further benefits include:
- Contributions towards meal expenses
- The possibility of flexible working hours for design engineers, development and technical workers
- The chance to receive a flat owned by the company
- Contributions towards pensions or life assurance
- Other allowances and benefits that arise through a collective agreement and principles governing utilisation of the employer’s social scheme, examples including financial support upon the birth of a baby, work clothes being washed at the employer’s expense, etc.
- Use of the best construction and computing software
- Cooperating with companies from across four continents
- Language tuition (English, German, Russian)
- Working with premier production technologies
In addition, PBS provides practical apprentice training for pupils of Jan Tiray Technical College. The bedrock for the enhancement of new qualified metalworkers is not only access to up-to-date equipment at the centre for practical training, but also interconnecting their knowledge acquired at school with production practise under expert supervision. In fact, the majority of such apprentices later become employees of PBS.

The company holds an open day so that anyone can come and look around the entire premises of PBS. This event takes place every year on the first Saturday in October, and it usually attracts a turnout of more then 1,300 visitors. Further information is also available when making a personal visit, too.
PBS is highly considerate towards the happiness of employees and the safe processes conducted on its premises. To this end, the firm works with a trade union, in addition to providing a sophisticated incentive scheme, as well as rewarding excellent performance and professional success. We make every endeavour to ensure that all employees feel successful and content.
